Dr.Ratnavalli Ellajosyula is a senior consultant Neurologist with 27 years experience. She passed out from prestigious medical colleges in New Delhi. She has done her MBBS from Lady Hardinge Medical college, MD (Medicine) from Maulana Azad Medical College and DM (Neurology) G.B.Pant Hospital, New Delhi. She worked for 11 years (1993-2004) at the National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore as faculty.  Subsequently she was at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore where she headed the department and initiated the DNB (Neurology) training course. She is an excellent clinician with a long and diverse experience of working as a Neurologist in both public and private hospital setting.   She has the necessary experience and expertise in treating a wide variety of adult neurological disorders like Epilepsy, Stroke, Headache, Multiple sclerosis, Spinal cord problems and vertigo. 

 

Dr. Ratnavalli is also a National and International acknowledged expert in management of dementia and memory disorders. She was a recipient of Commonwealth Fellowship, University of Cambridge, UK in 1999-2000 and Gandhi Research Award in 2016.  She was a clinical research fellow at University of Chapel Hill, NC, USA. She underwent advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of dementias at both UK and USA. She started the first Memory clinic in the country in 1998.  She has expertise in diagnosing and treating various dementias, memory disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, Frontotemporal dementia and Parkinson's disease.  She runs a Cognitive Disorders Clinic from Manipal Hospital, Annasawmy Mudaliar General Hospital and the Neurocare clinic in Mysore, which receives referrals from all over India.  She is committed to creating public awareness in both stroke and dementia and has done various programs like marches, signing of petitions and street plays. She was associated as a volunteer for many years with Nightingales Medical trust (NMT) and Dementia care centre in Bangalore, which involved assessment and treating patients, conducting workshops and training of caregivers and social workers.

 

She is also a clinical researcher and is currently investigating bilingualism and dementia, Life style and risk factors in Alzheimer's disease, language breakdown in bilingual patients with dementia, Frontotemporal dementia and vascular dementia.  Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals. She is passionate about teaching and is a faculty and resource person for postgraduate trainees in Neurology, Neuropsychology and speech Pathologists in various teaching courses, conferences and workshops in India and abroad.  She is a recognized International expert in Dementia and has been an invited speaker in several forums.
